TEP Operational Reasoning for Wildland FirefightersFrom training firefighters to simply responding, we’ve evolved to needing firefighters who can think. Perhaps this is why we often see many unsafe manoeuvres left to luck during failed attempts to extinguish fires.
The global wildland fire challenge requires us to update and enhance our knowledge and know-how. Due to this evolution in wildland fires, there is a need for firefighters to engage in more efficient and safer manoeuvres. We need firefighters that can think, are capable of reading such scenarios and looking around to understand the scenarios unfolding, what they are doing and how their actions affect others.
TEP focuses on the reasoning behind wildland firefighters’ basic analyses as they read fires, comprehend what the fire wants to do and what the fires can actually do in order to find opportunities.
This programme exercises the operational reasoning behind what we want to do and what can be done as a fire service’s team in order to choose the best options all while improving manoeuvre efficiency as well as individual and collective safety. We do so through experiences and real cases with support from experts. This basic reasoning for wildland firefighters will lead to improved decisions from the very first manoeuvres so fires of great potential can be reduced to minor incidents.
Validity of the license: 6 months to complete the course from the time of enrolment.
License extension: Once the license has expired, whether or not you have completed the course, you can reactivate it at any time and as many times as you want through the 6-month extension. For enquiries, contact hola@emergprogram.com
